Jazzed

Jazzed is rooted in my love of music, photography, and art. It grew from my collection of photos of musicians, started when I was co-founder of the North Shore Jazz Project and had the opportunity to hear a lot of jazz and meet a lot of the players. Through that experience, I learned how much music moved me, and being an artist, I yearned to interpret those feelings visually.

My process begins by selecting one of my archived images or shooting new ones. I combine these in graphics programs with unrelated images such as flocks of flying birds, that show the feeling of a musical riff, or the colors that jazz evokes in me. As I work, I still think like a painter since that is my background, and I have begun to paint into the prints as well.
